RECOMMENDATIONS AND CARE FOR YOUR NEW ARTWORK
ART ON CANVAS
- Light control: Avoid direct sunlight and intense artificial light, as it can damage colors and materials over time. Use curtains or blinds, or consider UV-filtering film on windows and lights. Use artificial lighting with UV filters or indirect lighting.
- Humidity and Temperature: Display the artwork in a cool, dry place. Maintain a stable humidity and temperature environment. Keeping the humidity relatively stable and avoiding extreme temperatures is also crucial to prevent damage such as cracking or warping. Avoid placing artwork near sources of heat or humidity, such as bathrooms or kitchens.
- Cleaning: Gently clean the canvas with a soft, damp cloth. Use a soft duster to remove dust. Avoid using household chemical cleaners, as they may damage the artwork.
- Handling: Use clean gloves whenever possible when handling the artwork to avoid transferring grease or dirt to the surface.
- Framing: If you frame the artwork, use high-quality materials and ensure it is securely mounted. The condition of the frame is also important to check, as a warped frame can sometimes pull on the canvas stretcher bars, causing the canvas to slacken.
- Transport: If you need to transport the artwork, wrap it carefully using protective materials such as bubble wrap or blankets.
ART ON PAPER / PRINTS
Never stack multiple paintings against each other. Wrap your prints in acid-free archival paper before storing and/or transporting them.
- Framing: Works on paper, such as watercolors, pastels, and drawings, should be framed with glass. Use high-quality materials and ensure the artwork is securely mounted with a mat to protect the surface.
By following these recommendations, you can enjoy your artwork for many years, preserving its beauty and value!
