ABOUT ME

Graduated in Graphic Design, Illustration and Visual Communication, with more than ten years of experience in the area. My creations have been published in various products and advertising campaigns, both nationally and internationally, obtaining recognition at a global level.
I have entered the field of Visual Arts in a self-taught manner, a world that fascinates me more and more every day. In addition to dedicating myself to ceramics, drawing, collage, screen printing and photography, which I am so passionate about.
Since the beginning of 2019, I have focused exclusively on art, working independently at GAB’S VISUAL ARTIST, where I produce works, design, and develop unique and special pieces, without being subject to trends.
Currently, I live and work in the vibrant city of Barcelona, Spain, which, with its rich history and effervescent art scene, has offered me endless inspirations and opportunities to enrich my work. Here, I have found an environment conducive to connecting with other creatives, sharing ideas and collaborating on innovative projects.
MY WORK
It is characterized by a fusion of traditional and contemporary techniques, exploring the interaction of shapes, colors and textures. In them I capture the events that move and traverse my body and mind. Through painting, I channel these experiences, while the sensations begin to take shape. These have been incorporating different motifs, transforming into a sort of confessional manifesto, a space where everything can be narrated.
On each canvas I discover a way to visualize my intimate, and at the same time autobiographical, universe. Sensations that emerge from the solitude of our individuality and the connections that are established between our worlds. Thus, open to all possibilities and beyond the iconography that may arise, I present my works as loving objects.
In my search to explore new forms of expression and stimuli to the limits of my creativity, my goal is to continue growing as an artist. Receptive to new experiences and learning that enriches both my personal and professional life. Excited for the future and for the infinite possibilities that this artistic path offers me.
ABSTRACT UNIVERSE
Her works capture a purely emotional vision. Each creation is a world that intertwines with the others, forming her vast inner universe.
What, at first glance, appear to be stains of color, glazes and combinations of simple techniques, where lines of various thicknesses dance on the canvas, this multifaceted artist makes her work flow, vibrate and come to life the moment she puts her brush on the frame. She does not leave anything to chance; each of her works contains carefully thought-out shapes and colors previously experienced in her personal log.
This log is a treasure where he stores the combinations, tests and sketches that will later be transformed into his larger-scale works. Harmonious sets and, at times chaotic, always giving the viewer a pause so that we can then contemplate the world in which he inhabited at that moment.
“My goal in each work is to create an atmosphere that feels familiar. Something magical that we recognize, but that is beyond our physical experience. (...)” - Gabriela Rodríguez, 2020.
Her abstraction contains forms that generate a figurative image in our mind; something that, as the artist mentions, is familiar to us and that we unconsciously transform its organic and abstract forms into a deeply subjective “what”.
Those of us who have had the privilege of getting to know GAB'S more closely can attest that his artistic production is intertwined with his personal quest to escape to a better world.
It is no coincidence that her work is moving today to Barcelona, a city that she, originally from Argentina, has long wanted to inhabit.
Having created part of her work in Argentina and preparing her next exhibition in Barcelona, Gabriela seeks the closure of a cycle and, at the same time, a new beginning. In this new chapter, her past, full of nights on the balcony of her home contemplating the Paraná River, meets a longed-for present, where she hopes that new worlds will continue to surprise her.
